burning man

I had the ultimate visual ride at Burning Man 2007...the Green Man.  For those of you who don't know, Burning Man is an annual event held on the dry lake bed of Black Rock City in Nevada.  It is a self serving, leave no trace, anti corporate gathering of 50,000+ artists for a week.  You can not buy or sell any goods, everything is done on the barter system.  You can not leave one iota of litter, not even an eyelash.  And there are no corporate sponsors.

I was an honored guest at the kite flyers camp, better known as the Department of Tethered Aviation.

At the end of the week, The Man, a larger than life metal sculpture of a man is set on fire.

Those who were there in 2007, will remember it most because The Man burned twice that year.  A individual, we'll call him an arsonist, climbed upto The Man and set him on fire on Wednesday, leaving everyone in shock.  Fortunately, the good people at Burning Man had a back up.  This photo is of the first burned Man being removed by crane to make way for the new one.

The other photo is of the temporary airport that is set up at BRC.

The worst thing I have found about having a pc is viruses.  It broke my heart when mine got infected this year and I lost tons of pictures and files.  Devastating.  While the memories of the Burn will forever be in my heart, these are the only two pictures recovered after the virus.

F&*$ hackers!!!
